Community Energy Network

The Community Energy Network project aims to reduce the energy bills of businesses and residents on Scilly through access to cheaper, locally generated electricity.

It also aims to get a deeper insight into local energy usage in order to help reduce the overall energy consumption of the islands.

Solar Power Generation

The network currently is currently linked to the Airport Solar Farm which can generate up to 48 kWh and managed by the Community Venture.

Going forward the plan is link more Community Venture solar generation assets into the network and developing a roadmap for further development of local renewable energy assets.

Energy Local

Energy Local allows for local electricity users to directly use and benefit from local renewable energy sources.

It works by providing a local energy tariff, which local electricity users can sign up to, which will preferentially match them with the locally generated energy when available at a discount to their normal energy prices.

Smart Meter Rollout

An acceleration of the domestic smart meter rollout on the Islands will help people control their electricity bills and understand their overall energy consumption in detail.

This service is to support local residents with understanding their electricity bills and dealing with supplier issues as well as identifying ways to reduce their energy costs.
